State-of-the-art text input system so powerful that sighted, visually impaired and blind people are able to quickly and easily type on touch screen phones and tablets.Otherwise, definitely stick with notability. So it seems like if you care more for customization then good notes would be your best bet. Also the box doesn't offer a lasso feature, or a "go back" option which is annoying.ĮDIT: Hey guys. I like the zoomed box feature on here, however it doesn't provide the ability to highlight from the box menu, you have to select from the top menu. I think the lasso tool is good but I like the option to box a selected area instead of drawing it all out. Printing from goodnotes is easier and you won't worry about any portions of it being cut off. a set of colors/sizes such as notability, but I've learned to love it and love the idea of creating my own colors. I used to be overwhelmed by the color and size options goodnotes gives vs. Not to mention, you can have a different paper orientation within a subject, something notability lacks and something I absolutely love! Also, you can create your own paper styles. Page options (dotted, grid, cornell) are way more vast and MUCH better than notability. Journaling on goodnotes feels more natural because of swiping side to side and the option to change the page orientation. It also has the option of erasing parts of a writing stroke vs. This calls for a faster writing experience similar to that of a pencil with an eraser. The highlight tool makes the writing more apparent and goes underneath the written part.Įraser tool is really nice and has a few options that I love such as being able to switch back to writing without having to click on the writing option.

Very fluid writing, I prefer it over notability. You can't add different page styles, it will only allow you to use one page style per notebook. Highlighter will highlight underneath the text so it makes the text look flushed. there is currently no way of changing this. The shape tool is absolutely horrible and not intuitive at all, I don't even use it.Įraser tool is fast but can be annoying if you want to erase a small portion of what you wrote but it deletes entire strokes, even what was written prior. Importing PDFs is really useful and you can choose ahead of time which portions of it you want to include. Love the lasso tool on here, the shaped lasso makes using it a lot more convenient. I like that drawing straight lines doesn't require pressing another tool option and it does it naturally. SPLIT SCREEN is a dream to use, and I think it's the main reason I will keep using notability especially for rough note taking. Very clean UI although I think it can be polished up a bit, unless you prefer tabs. Voice-over recording meaning when you record in the app, whatever you write will play it in real-time when you listen to the recording Up and down PDF-style scrolling (although if you're used to e-readers such as kindle, this probably won't be such an issue.)Ĭolor options are very good and not overwhelming, love the pastel colors they've included recently.

My final conclusions are below, feel free to add your own commentary! I have had Notability for one year now and GoodNotes for about 6 months. I know this question is probably repeated 10x a day on this sub and I get it, school is starting up and you want the best note taking experience possible.
