Instructions for using Starry Sky Stacker are here. I do like this version a lot and have and will. Quite frankly, I don't use the all sky mosaic as it doesn't have a lot of utility for most of my day to day uses.
#STARRY NIGHT PRO VERSION HISTORY PLUS#
The Pro Plus version has the all sky CCD mosaic (and is the version I use).
#STARRY NIGHT PRO VERSION HISTORY MAC#
You can purchase Starry Sky Stacker in the Apple App Store. First, I use the Mac version, Starry Night Pro Plus version 6.3.6. An SSD for the main storage device is strongly recommended and more memory (at least 16GB) is better if only because you will need to use an image editing tool such as Lightroom, Photoshop or Affinity Photo at some point and they all work betters with lots of memory. Experience his most famous works, such as The Starry Night and Sunflowers, in a whole new way. Starry Sky Stacker can process 100's of images with as little as 4GB of memory.
#STARRY NIGHT PRO VERSION HISTORY MAC OS#
Starry Sky Stacker requires Mac OS 10.11 or newer. If you have pictures taken with the camera fixed on a tripod you should consider using Starry Landscape Stacker.

Starry Sky Stacker is for pictures of the sky, with no foreground, taken with a tracking device so that the stars do not move within the frame. Starry Sky Stacker can substantially reduce both shot noise and fixed-pattern noise in the final image, and correct for vignetting and other lens and sensor defects. It computes 5 compositions of the selected images simultaneously allowing the user to easily choose which compositions to use. It uses a proprietary alignment algorithm that produces excellent results It is simpler and easier to use than most stacking programs Key advantages of Starry Sky Stacker are: See Restrictions and Requirements).Īligns the images to compensate for errors in tracking,Īssigns a quality estimate to each image,Īllows the user to select images based on the quality estimate or manually and,Ĭombines the images using four different algorithms (median with outlier rejection, mean with outlier rejection, max, min). De Quinceys version of the starry sky within involves mental gymnastics that draw on both sensory perception and theoretical knowledge when the two. Astronomical cameras that use monochrome sensors with filters are not supported. At the heart of Version 8 is a new Deep Sky Database of extended objects that makes the Starry Night experience better than ever before. Images must be RAW (from a supported camera), TIFF or JPEG. (Note that alt-azimuth mounts are not suitable for use with Starry Sky Stacker because the stars appear to rotate within the frame both during and between exposures). Starry Sky Stacker requires that an equatorial mount that ensures that stars move very little either during or between exposures is used during capture. The reduction in noise comes from combining a sequence of identical exposures into a single image. Starry Sky Stacker is a Mac application that reduces noise in pictures of the night sky.
